| What is
Reflexology?Reflexology
is a hands-on therapy that requires no equipment or instruments - just your feet and my
hands. In Reflexology, the whole of the body is represented by specific points, or
Reflexes, on the feet - the head is the big toes, and the hips are the heel and ankle
areas.

The ancient Chinese system of meridians or energy channels is
also incorporated into Reflexology, which has been practised for thousands of years in
various forms - this ancient Egyptian picture shows Reflexology being practised.

What happens during a Reflexology treatment?
Firstly a consultation is held to establish your medical history and
any current treatments you might be undergoing which could affect or be affected by
Reflexology. Then you will be comfortably positioned so that your whole body can relax and
I sit at your bare feet. These are cleansed and a small amount of oil or talcum powder is
applied to enable my fingers to move easily around your skin. As your feet must be relaxed
for Reflexology to be effective, they are massaged and manipulated for a while, and then
the main treatment can begin.

By working methodically around your feet, all areas of the body are
checked and energised - particular problem areas are given special attention. The whole
process will take about 1 hour, leaving you and your feet feeling very relaxed. Sometimes,
suppressed feelings can emerge during treatment, and you may find yourself unusually
emotional. At the end of the session, you will be given a glass of water - it is advisable
to drink plenty of water during the next few days to assist the body to flush out toxins.
What happens after a Reflexology
treatment?
As Reflexology stimulates your bodys healing
processes, you may notice various after-effects for some days. These may include:-
increased urine flow as your body rids itself of built-up toxins; or a reoccurrence of
previous symptoms, as the healing process works in reverse by dealing with the most recent
disorder before moving on to the previous one.
Reflexology releases suppressed feelings which may lead to stress
and other related dis-eases. All these are normal and can be mentioned on your next visit.
